A Town with Character
Weybridge has a rich history of British innovation and endeavour in the worlds of motorsport and aviation. From the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit and the home of Concorde at Brooklands to a town centre offering a good balance of national and independent businesses, green space and amenities - Weybridge has much to offer residents and visitors.
With a Vision to Grow
Weybridge is in many ways successful with a range of high quality, national and independent retailers, food and drink places and arts and culture but it cannot be complacent about the challenges that face our high streets. Weybridge business have worked together to improve the town centre, keep the flags flying and Christmas lights shining but this has been dependent on volunteers who have now moved on leaving the businesses without a voice or group to progress their ideas and represent business interests.
The business community want to see Weybridge succeed, to promote it as an attractive place to regularly visit for shopping, entertainment and services. It is against this backdrop that businesses in Weybridge are exploring a business improvement district to understand how it might help businesses to thrive.
How we will make a difference
A group of businesses, have got together to see how this can be taken forward, the Weybridge BID Task Group. These individuals/ organisations are giving freely of their time to look at ways in which the Town could be improved. We are now starting the work on engaging with the wider business community to see whether a BID would be right for us.
Potentially the Weybridge BID will:
- Involve 300+ businesses.
- Raise £1m plus over 5 years to invest in the Town Centre.
- Carry out exciting projects and events to drive loyalty, footfall and spend.
- Make sure we are a welcoming, friendly
and safe place.
- Make it easier for people to come into and move around the town.
- Give businesses the support they need to flourish by driving down business costs whilst being a powerful voice.
- Access further funding.
- Raise
our profile further.
